The basic idea for ChildrensBibleArt
is to let children illustrate biblical accounts.
The unique and beautiful images form part of a growing collection
that forms the basis for regular exhibitions and events, from
which they can also be put up for sale.
All children and young people from zero to 18 can participate
by donating biblical drawings, collages etc.
They just have to be in the size 12x18 cm - which is the project's
fixed image format.
Adult support
As an important support, adult artists, both professionals and
amateurs, can also participate, likewise with biblical images
in the same 12x18 cm format.
Everyone and anyone is thus invited to produce Bible-related
pictures in the format 12x18 cm and donate the works to the project.
Adults must, however, be aware that children's works usually
have priority at exhibitions and events.
ChildrensBibleArt - works have dogmas:
On the back of the artwork, the first name, age and nationality
of the artist are shown, and it is noted which biblical story
or scripture inspired the work.
In addition, there may be an explanation from the child or young
person about the thoughts behind it.
You can download a pdf with the right format and a sceme
for back-side information: HERE
When ChildrensBibleArt receives the drawing to the collection,
a unique number is added, and the picture can then participate
in exhibitions and possibly put up for sale.
Profits from sales are used to help and develop children's
creativity in regions and countries where there is little money
for this kind of activity, and also often little regard for children's
creativity and expressive abilities.
The help can be done, for example, by sponsoring colors and
paper, just as the visibility itself can also be a motivating
incentive for creative biblical togetherness between children
/ young people and adults.
The project is ecumenical:
ChildrensBibleArt aims for an international environment.
All biblical drawings in the size 12x18 made by children and
young people can be participate, regardless of the underlying
denominational background.
Christian institutions which are engaged in work with children
and young people, both in Denmark and preferably in poor parts
of the world, are hereby invited to cooperate, and Bible-drawing
groups can apply for money from the sale of childrensbibleart
to get materials for use in their creative efforts and participation
in the project.
Origin
ChildrensBibleArt arose as a vision of retired teacher and deacon
Holger Madsen, who has combined his professional knowledge and
interest in creativity with the concept of learning through the
biblical stories.
Holger has shared the vision with Lærernes Missions
Forening (LMF), which from 2017-19 has helped with the realization
of the ChildrensBibleArt project from idea to reality, both financially
and practically.
From 19.11.2019 until today, Holger Madsen himself has been
responsible for the management and organization of an annual
exhibition.
Sponsor wanted
Going forward, the ChildrensBibleArt project is looking for a
new main sponsor, preferably a Christian organization or church
with an interest in children's work; and preferably with contacts
both in Denmark and abroad.
The sponsorship is agreed for at least one year at a time
and in such a way that it is adapted as best as possible to the
sponsor's organisation.
At the same time, sponsors of Bible drawings that meet the
requirements for childrensbibleart are being sought.
Here everyone can help with the production and submission of
Bible drawings.
We have good experience both with private contributions, e.g.
grandparent+grandchild and with Christian independent schools.
Ordinary danish folk churches have also made very valuable
contributions to ChildrensBibleArt, because many preasts find
it a good idea to include drawing in their children and youth
work. Both confirmands and mini-confirmants can contribute with
biblical drawings, and in addition to the creative pleasure,
they can have the gift of giving to benefit other children and
young people.
Friendship churches and Diakonia
Where there is common interest, ChildrensBibleArt can function
as a linguistic bridge builder and form of contact between friendship
churches in distant countries.
Even where there are big differences in culture and language
between friendship churches, both parties will be able to exchange
and enrich each other, for example with ChildrensBibleArt exhibitions.
